Pula in the FORTIC project directed towards Fort Bourguignon


The city of Pula is the leading partner of the FORTIC project, worth more than two million euros, of which almost 500,000 euros go to Pula, as part of the cross-border cooperation program Interreg Italy - Croatia 2021 - 2027, which was presented on Tuesday in the Pula Municipal Palace.

Through the FORTIC project ("From remains Of the war to the architecture of peace in cross-border area of ​​Italy-Croatia"), important cross-border cooperation is achieved, and in Pula, special attention will be paid to the Fort Bourguignon, for which documentation is planned to be created as basis for further interventions, said Pula Mayor Filip Zoričić.

The city of Pula wants to preserve and valorize Fort Bourguignon, respecting the cultural and natural heritage, with an emphasis on the sustainability of the location. Fort Bourguignon would become a central place of cultural heritage interpretation and revival of historical events, experiences and experiences at the service of citizens, visitors, tourists and all future generations, Zoričić added.

In addition to the City of Pula, partners in the project from the Croatian side are the University of Jurja Dobrila in Pula, the Public Institution of the Fortress of Culture Šibenik and the City of Korčula, and from the Italian side the Municipality of Vieste, the Municipality of Cervia and the Caˊ Foscari University from Venice.

"The development of sustainable tourism in the cross-border area of ​​Italy and Croatia, which in this project is related to the preservation of cultural heritage and its promotion for tourist purposes, represents another in a series of projects with which we are connected in an international partnership. We continue to cooperate with Ca' Foscari University from Venice in conducting research and using the results in the local community," said the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Tourism, "Dr. Mijo Mirković" by Ksenija Černa.

She reminded that the Faculty of Economics and Tourism participates in the organization of international summer schools for students, international conferences, a series of public events and the creation of documentation for the reconstruction of fortresses and the development of programs that will be held there.

"For the Šibenik Fortress of Culture, the FORTIC project is particularly significant because it represents the first project in the Italy-Croatia cross-border cooperation program, which paves the way for strengthening new partnerships. This form of cooperation is crucial because it enables access to resources and knowledge from different fields, which is important for the development of cultural projects", said the director of the Šibenik Fortress of Culture, Gorana Barišić Bačelić.
